Challenger Eyes Elizabeth Warren's Seat (And His Name Isn't Curt Schilling)
State House News Service reported a second potential Senate candidate Tuesday.
PEPPERELL, MA — Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren may have another competitor coming up in 2018, with Republican Rick Green reportedly considering a run against the popular Democrat.
State House News Service reports that Green is mulling a challenge, citing two close sources. The wealthy Republican is the owner of a Pepperell-based auto parts company, founder of the conservative non-profit Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance and was runner-up in the competition for Massachusetts Republican Party chair.
Green is "thinking about" running to unseat Warren, SHNS reports, citing a close associate, "but feels no rush make a decision." Also considering a 2018 challenge is conservative bomb-thrower and former Red Sox pitching superstar Curt Schilling.

Warren, for her part, formally announced her re-election bid last week. She is positioning herself as an opposing force to President-elect Donald Trump and a Republican majority Congress.
She told supporters in a letter last week, "In the weeks and months ahead, we will stand up to the Trump Administration’s racism, sexism, bigotry and hate. We will fight back against attacks on Latinos, African-Americans, Muslims, immigrants, women, and LGBT Americans. Our diversity is what makes our country strong – and on this, there will be NO compromise."
