Five Things: Charity Benefit with Bobby Sweeney on Beacon Hill Tonight

1. Benefit for Children's Programs: Bobby Sweeney of the Boston Bruins will be at the tonight to help raise money for the Boston Bruins Foundation. Every Thursday in August the restaurant will be holding an event for a different charity, featuring a local celebrity and a past bartender. All the tips from tonight will be donated to the Boston Bruins Foundation. Last week the pub raised $2,500 for the Alliance for Lupus Research.
2. Neighborhood Nights, Magical Journey: invites you to come and explore art from Egypt, China, Japan and Spain in a scavenger hunt to discover fascinating stories and art from around the world for free at 5 p.m.
3. Writers Express Group: Meet with other authors hoping to have their works published at the Boston Public Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This free workshop is open to all.

4. Tito Puentes Summer Series “Marcus Santos and Mike Ringquist, AfroBrazilian Ensemble”: Come down to the O’Day Playground, 8 W Newton St, South End for the seventh annual Latin concert series. This is high-energy music for the dancing and celebrating crowd. The show is free and starts at 7 p.m.
5. Possible Storms: The National Weather Service is predicting an ugly weekend, starting Thursday after 1 p.m. Thursday morning should be partly sunny with a high of 88 but the afternoon and the evening have showers with a chance of thunderstorms. The temperature should drop to about 70 degrees.
