A Small Piece of the Big Apple is Coming to Bedford

Chess players will soon be able to take their game outdoors when the Bedford Free Public Library installs a couple of outdoor chess tables.

The concrete tables - which can be used for chess or checkers - are a common sight around New York City, and now they will be coming to Bedford, according to a report on the Bedford Citizen.

The Board of Library Trustees approved the purchase of the tables at their June 11 meeting, according to the report. The library will also purchase chairs made of teak, rather than concrete stools seen at some of the tables in the Big Apple.
