Bedford Man Dead after Wrong-Way Crash that Killed RI Patrolman
The Rhode Island State Police said Dejae T. Pizzaro of Bedford and a 24-year-old police officer driving home from his shift were killed.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—A 23-year-old Bedford man and patrolman for a Rhode Island police department are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 early Monday.
The Rhode Island State Police identified the driver who allegedly caused the crash as Dejae T. Pizzaro, of Bedford.
Police said that Pizzaro made a U-turn on the highway before crashing into a Dodge Charger being driven by 24-year-old Ryan Bourque, of Coventry, RI.

Both men were killed in the crash.
Bourque was a patrol officer for the Jamestown Police Department and was driving home after completing his shift when the crash happened at around 12:07 a.m., about 500 feet north of Exit 7 in East Greenwich, the state police said.

The highway was shut down for a period of time as crews extricated the victims and investigated the crash.
The incident remains under investigation. The State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit are assisting.
