Bedford Police Log: Purse Robbers Nabbed, High School Phone May Have Been Hacked

July 30:
Wheels were taken from a car at the Double Tree Hotel.
A man and woman got into an argument on the Middlesex Turnpike and a caller reported a possible domestic incident. The people were gone when police arrived. They reportedly left in separate cars.

Police arrested two Nashua men after they allegedly stole a purse from a woman while she was putting away her groceries outside Stop & Shop on the Great Road in Bedford, according to Bedford Police Lt. Scott Jones. After a struggle, the two took off in a black Nissan Maxima, but were stopped by a police officer near the Gulf Station. After a search, police found the pair had stolen other items - including credit cards and a laptop computer - from a vehicle that belonged to a McDonald’s employee, Jones said. Michael L. Kelley, 38, of Nashua, N.H., and Aaron Meuse, 29, of Nashua, N.H., each face charges of unarmed robbery and receiving stolen property over $250.

July 31:
Police received a series of 911 hang up calls from Bedford High School. They checked the school but could not locate who was making the calls came from. When they got more 911 calls they went back to the school and found the school’s IT department was working on disconnecting the phone. They believe it may have been accessed by a computer hacker.
A resident reported a possible scam from a man saying he was a Microsoft technician and asking if he could log onto his computer to diagnose a problem. The resident refused, and then called police.
