Car Stuck in Snow Bank, Burst Water Pipes and Sprinkler Heads, and More

BEDFORD, MA - The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Bedford Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Feb. 15

5:44 a.m. - Received a wireless 911 call from a paper delivery driver reporting his vehicle is stuck in a snow bank in front of 13 Lido Lane. Officer reported he was able to assist the operator getting the vehicle out of the snow bank, there was no damage.

8:03 a.m. - Received 911 call from 180 Hartwell Rd, Instrumentation Labs, reporting an inside odor of gas. Hanscom Fire and Bedford Police responding and then canceled after command reports there is an ongoing issue that the company is aware of, and there was no odor inside the building while they were on scene. Companies cleared.

10:53 a.m. - Fire alarm for Bedford Village, building 12. Command reports a water pipe the burst was the cause for the alarm. Maintenance was on scene and will handle the matter.

12:20 p.m. - Fire alarm for Doubletree Bedford Glenn Hotel. Officers and fire dispatched. Command reports a sprinkler break. Billerica Engine was cancelled enroute. Doubletree Facilities department to handle.

1:27 p.m. - Centralarm reports commercial burglar alarm activation at the Clubhouse, 200 Avalon Drive. Officer reports the door to the clubhouse is open. Officer French secured the door.

4:25 p.m. - Report of kids ice skating on the Concord River, on the boat landing side of 225. Caller believes there is open water, and he does not think it is safe to skate on. Officer reports there are two people skating and there is no open water.

5:09 p.m. - Central Station Alarm for 3000 Taylor Pond Lane. Command reported a sprinkler head that burst on first floor stairway #3. Property management company notified. Building turned over to representative from property maintenance.

5:55 p.m. - Cell phone caller reports he witnessed a car crash without injuries at or near 500 Springs Road. Officer spoke with the parties involved, there was minor damage, and the operators had already swapped info.

9:21 p.m. - 911 call from 7 Crestview Road reporting water problem inside the home. They have shut the main water off, but the water is still coming in. Fire Department assisted the homeowner.

10:20 p.m. - SAS Alarm reports commercial alarm at John Glenn Middle School. This is a glass break alarm for room B-108. SAS reports they were able to get in contact with a key holder, who is responding. Officer Barry reports the building checks secure, no apparent cause for the alarm.
