Child Locked in Car, CVS Shoplifter Caught, Loose Dog, Burst Pipe at VA Hospital and More

BEDFORD, MA - The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Bedford Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Feb. 14

12:28 a.m. - Call from a resident of 34 Sunset Road reporting an issue with her Carbon Monoxide Detector. Fire Department reports a battery issue, homeowner to handle.

7:46 a.m. - Caller reports his child has locked himself in the car, and the car is running. Officer gained entry into the motor vehicle.

12:08 p.m. - Caller reports a loose Black Lab outside near the Kid’s Club. Animal Control Officer responded and reports the dog belonged to a nearby resident.

1:07 p.m. - The fire alarm was activated at the VA Hospital, building #2. VA police department called to report there are multiple alarms sounding in building 2, as well as the odor of smoke in the building, and water present. Police and fire responded. This was a burst sprinkler pipe, there was no smoke or odor of smoke present. The VA facilities department will handle, the companies cleared.

6:06 p.m. - Received a call from CVS Pharmacy, 199 The Great Rd reporting their Loss Prevention has one shoplifter detained. Police arrested Tina White, 30 of Salem for shoplifting over $100 by concealing.

7:26 p.m. - Fire box struck for Doubletree Hotel, 44 Middlesex Turnpike. Command reported broken sprinkler head in the function area, hotel maintenance on scene will handle.

8:27 p.m. - Received two 911 calls from a VA patient, reporting there was a dog in her room. VA police were notified. They checked on the patient all was in order, there was no dog in the room.
