Police: Damaged Telephone Poles and a Hay Truck Fire

The following information was provided by the Bedford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 28

12:27 a.m.- Police received a call reporting a male in a contractor truck leaving the Great Road Shopping Center who appeared to be smoking marijuana. Police responded, but the vehicle was gone by the time they arrived.

Thursday, Nov. 29

6:25 a.m.- An officer reported a telephone pole in front of 37 Old Billerica Road has never been replaced by NSTAR, and remains a hazard due to the base being split. NSTAR had originally been notified of the hazard by the town after a vehicle collided with the pole on Nov. 17. NSTAR was notified again, and reported they were unaware the pole hadn't been replaced.

9:21 a.m.- The Bedford Police Department received a call from the VA Medical Center Police requesting assistance in locating a suicidal male who had left the VA Medical Center. VA Police were unsure of his location. BPD used the individual's cell phone number to track him with AT&T's phone tracking service. The subject was tracked to the Cambridge Gateway Inn in Cambridge. The Cambridge Police Department was notified. 

11:46 a.m.- BPD received a call from the State Police requesting assistance with a truck carrying hay that had caught fire on Route 3 south of exit 26. The fire was extinguished. 

5:07 p.m.- Police received a call reporting a cyclist had been struck by a vehicle on Great Road near Hillside Ave. The responding officer reported the cyclist had been struck by a gold Subaru Outback, causing the bike's tire to bend. The officer reported the cyclist had a bruise on her arm, but refused medical attention.
