Route 3 Coalition Gets Good Grade from Economist

Five communities along Rte. 3 have teamed up to promote business in their area, and the effort got an “A” from a Northeastern University economist.

The Middlesex 3 Coalition seeks to attract – and retain – businesses, and includes officials from the five towns – Bedford, Burlington, Chelmsford, Billerica, and Lowell – as well as from UMass-Lowell and Middlesex Community College, according to a report in the Boston Globe.

Barry Bluestone, founding director of the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy at Northeastern and an Obama Administration advisor, told the Globe he is impressed with the effort of the group, which started in 2012. He added that the group knows how to compete in a global economy.
