What Does the Removal of the Mask Mandate Mean for Residents?
- Masks will no longer be required in public places in the Town of Bedford starting February 28th
- Masks must continue to be worn inside public spaces until February 28th
- You may choose to continue to wear a mask in public spaces
- Businesses do have the option to make business specific requirements that are more strict than the Town or State.
- Example: A business may choose to require employees or the public to wear masks while in the facility.
- On February 15, 2022, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health updated its mask advisory for vaccinated and unvaccinated residents: “A fully vaccinated individual should wear a mask indoors if you have a weakened immune system, or if you are at increased risk of severe disease because of your age or an underlying medical condition or if someone in your household has a weekend immune, is at increased risk for severe disease or is unvaccinated.”
- As a reminder, masks may still be required in certain locations per Massachusetts State Requirements, including but not limited to healthcare settings and public transportation: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-mask-requirements
- Please be mindful that each individual’s circumstances are unique, whether they choose to wear a mask or not. Empathy is good for everyone’s health.
If you have additional questions related to COVID-19 such as mask use, testing, or quarantine or isolation guidance, please contact the Bedford Health Department at 781-275-6507.
