The Town of Bedford has identified two utility boxes that can be painted. Follow the below steps to design, get approved, and paint a utility box. The person applying to paint the utility box must be 18 years or older.

1. DESIGN – Draw, paint, or compose on the computer an idea to be painted on to a utility box. Keep in mind the long rectangular shape of all the sides together, as well as what is on each side of the box.
2. WRITE – A proposal of why the design or idea is important to be displayed in Bedford.

3. SUBMIT – The proposal and design should be submitted to the Bedford Utility Box Jury. Please sent it to sscoville11@gmail.com by March 1, 2022.
4. GRANT – Each artist that is picked to paint a Bedford utility box will receive $500 for supplies and time. The grant is funded by the Bedford Cultural Council.
5. SCHEDULE – Schedule a time to paint the utility box to make sure the Bedford DPW is aware and has prepared the area for painting to begin. The utility boxes will be painted between April 1 – June 1, 2022.
6. PAINT – The artists are responsible for cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting the utility box. The recommended paint to use is Aqua–Cote water-based sign paint.
