An overnight home invasion in Bedford has sent three people to the hospital.

Three people were attacked in their home at 40 North Road just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno announced in a release. One was reportedly shot, the other two beaten, but all sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Bongiorno said police are searching for three male suspects who were known to the victims, possibly through work. The home invaders may have believed there were drugs to be stolen in the home, police said.

“This is an extraordinarily unusual event for the town of Bedford. Bedford is a safe, family-oriented community,” Chief Bongiorno said. “We will aggressively pursue these suspects and bring them to justice.”
