What's Going On at Hanscom Air Force Base?
One neighboring community sent out a notice to residents regarding possible gun shot-like sounds coming from Hanscom and what it means.
BEDFORD, MA - If you hear sounds resembling gunshots during the next few days, it's probably just the work going on at Hanscom Air Force Base.
The town of Lexington alerted residents Wednesday that an ongoing construction project at the Hartwell Gate of Hanscom Air Force base may result in a sound resembling gun shots. Workers will be using Hilti fasteners to install steel decking for a canopy to protect security personnel from rain and snow.

The town added that the Hilti fasteners are shot through the decking into the steel, and that sound resembles the "gun shot" sound. The town reported that the project should last for the next couple of days.
