5 Things: Teen Techs are Back; Storytelling at the Benton

Events occurring in Belmont on Friday, June 28.

1. Do you have a question about using your new digital (place some great new device here) or are just befuddled by the wealth of functions it can perform? You know who you are! Well, help is on the way. Belmont High School's Teen Techs are back at the Belmont Public Library this July to help patrons with e-readers, accessing the digital catalog, basic Internet help, Facebook, etc. One hour individual one-on-one sessions scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 11a.m., starting Monday, July 8. Registration is required, and is available online or by calling 617-993-2870. 

2. Summer's hear and the time is right for Summer Storytelling at the Benton Library, Belmont's independent and volunteer-run library at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex. Stories are for children ages three to five. Parents and caregivers must attend.  Registration is not required.  Summer Story Time also meets Tuesdays. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m.

3. Insituform Technologies will be performing sewer and drain work at the Slade Street Easement and at the intersection of Pine Street and Trapelo Road.

4. If you are a Belmont resident 60 or over, the Belmont Council on Aging can provide rides to neighboring towns for the purpose of visiting family or friends at in nursing homes or rehab centers. The towns covered are Watertown, North Cambridge and Arlington while trips to Lexington and Waltham are evaluated on an as-needed basis. 5. On this day in 1926, Mel Brooks, comic writer, actor, director and producer was born. Just look at his body of film classics: The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part I and Spaceballs. Then there is Broadway with The Producers and Young Frankenstein. Boy, that's a lot of work!
