Middlesex DA Investigating Fatal Moped Crash In Belmont

The driver of the moped was a Watertown resident.

BELMONT, MA — A fatal moped crash that occurred Tuesday morning is under investigation by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office.

According to Ryan, Belmont police observed the vehicle driving erratically on the wrong side of Trapelo Road just before 9 a.m. The moped eventually Stults Road off Belmont Street after failed attempts to stop the moped by police and collided with a Honda CRV.

The moped driver, an 18-year-old Watertown man, was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital with apparent serious injuries. The Honda driver suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Belmont Police, the State Police Collision Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services Sections.
