5 Things You Need To Know Today

Welcome to "Five Things You Need to Know Today," a new Patch column where we give the readers essential information at a glance. Check back later for more, and let us know what you think of the new feature in the comments.
1. Learn more about the new all-volunteer, community-run library by attending a meeting of the Friends of the Benton Library at the Belmont Public Library, 336 Concord Ave., from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
2. A National History Day workshop for middle school and high school students will be held at the Belmont Public Library, 336 Concord Ave, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

3. The weather is going to be warm(ish) so there is no excuse not to attend one of the tripleheader of games by Belmont High Marauders verses Stoneham: Boy's Soccer at 3:45 p.m. at Harris Field; Girls' volleyball at 4 p.m. at Wenner Field House; and Field Hockey at Harris Field beginning at 6 p.m.
4. It may be located in Cambridge but it's considered a Belmont asset. And residents have a chance to learn more about Fresh Pond as Chip Norton, Cambridge Watershed Manager, will give a tour of Fresh Pond Reservation's conservation and recreation areas. 4. Inspirations from Nature, The New England Society of Botanical Artists Group Show can be seen by heading over to the Mass Audubon Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary, 10 Juniper Road. The Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
