5 Things You Need To Know Today

Welcome to "Five Things you Need to Know Today," a new Patch column where we give the readers essential information at a glance. Check back later for more, and let us know what you think of the new feature in the comments. 

1. The annual Veterans Day celebration in Belmont schools is today beginning with a continental breakfast at the Chenery Middle School, 95 Washington St. at 8:45 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. The Butler Elementary (9:45 a.m.) at 90 White St. and the Burbank Elementary (10:30 a.m.) at 266 School St. will also hold appreciations. Finally there is a luncheon at the VFW Post, 310 Trapelo Rd at 11:30 a.m. sponsored by the Veteran's organization.

2. Craft Beer Celler opens its doors for the first time today at 10 a.m. Head over to 51 Leonard St. in Belmont Center and welcome Kate Baker and Suzanne Schalow, owners and Belmont residents, to town by taking a few bottles home.

3. Come see one of the best Girls' Soccer teams in the state as Belmont plays its final home game as it takes on Newburyport in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 2 North tournament tonight at 6 p.m. at Harris Field.

4. A sing-along children's program for your pre-preschoolers with the outstanding Julie at , 336 Concord Ave, Belmont beginning at 10:30 a.m.

5. Bridge isn't just for the games pages of newspapers and New Yorker cartoons. Every Wednesday ACBL sanctioned games are held at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St. from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Phone: 339-223-6484 for more information.
