5 Things You Need To Know Today: Feb. 8

Learn your house's history, School budget Q&A, stories for tots.

1. Your house is much more than just wood and nails. Discover the history of the residents who lived there before you. You can research the history of your house whether it is 20 years old or 150 years old.  Come learn some tricks to get the most out of your house history research.

Marian Pierre-Louis, a house historian, lecturer and writer who specializes in the histories of New England homes, will introduce house history research at a lecture at the , 336 Concord Ave. at 7 p.m. Research will include where to find the deeds to your house, how to chain a deed, and locating other sources of information such as the US Federal Census records

2. Why are there three school budgets? Why will art and music be cut from the elementary schools? Will cuts force high school students to pay for private Advance Placement classes? Those questions and more will likely be poised as the Belmont School Committee holds the first of two public meetings to answer questions from residents at the 266 Beech St. from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

3. Yoga, taught by professional instructors, is being held from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the , 582 Pleasant St, in Gardiner Hall at the back of the church. $10. All levels welcome just bring your own mat if you can. $6 per child for child care. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.

4. Story time for 2’s and 3’s. Songs and movement are part of the story time experience for children ages 2 and 3. At the ’s Children’s Room, 336 Concord Ave. The fun begins at 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

5. Stories for children ages 4 and 5 are followed by a simple craft. 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the , 336 Concord Ave.
