5 Things You Need to Know Today: October 9
Cushing Village, Tuesday is Monday for trash collection and witches at the Beech.

1. Cushing Village, the large three-building residential housing, parking and retail development in the heart of Cushing Square will be back before the Planning Board as they meet at the Beech Street Center starting at 7 p.m. They have set aside an hour and thirty minutes for discussion.
2. In the world of trash collection, because yesterday was a holiday, today is Monday, and not Tuesday.
3. Everyone is invited to get a jump on Hallowe’en by attending the Beech Street Center's program on witches beginning at 2 p.m. Actress Patricia Perry will probe the world of witchcraft where anything is possible and take a look at witchcraft through the history from the perspective of the accused and the accusers. Audience members may just find themselves accused of witchcraft and a trial may break out at any moment. Sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care of Lexington. Refreshments will be served

4. Belmont High School's Boys' and Girls' Cross Country, both 3-1 on the season, will be tripping around Clay Pit Pond today beginning at around 4 p.m. for the girls and 4:45 p.m. for the boys. The visitors are from Reading High School.
5. Belmont's Benton Library Pre-School Story Time is back beginning at 10:30 a.m. For children ages 2 1/2 to 5, this event features stories, word plays, and other activities. Siblings are welcome; parents or caretakers must be in attendance throughout the session. Registration is not required.
