Belmont Police On The Court In Benefit Tourney

MIT event went to benefit the Sean Collier Fund and the One Fund Boston.

This past Saturday, June 29, members of the Belmont Police Department participated in a one-day, single-elimination basketball tournament to benefit the Sean Collier Fund and the One Fund Boston at MIT. There were teams from local high schools and teams from local First responders.

Collier was the MIT Police Officer killed while on duty by the suspected Boston Marathon bombing terrorists on Thursday, April 18.

Along with Belmont officers were local police from Watertown, Arlington, Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield and others who fought for a chance to bring home the championship.

The Belmont Police won its first game by two points against a strong Malden High School team but then lost to United PD – made up of Boston and Transit police and the Suffolk Sheriffs Department – by eight. United PD eventually won the tournament.
