Belmont Week in Review: Sex Offender In Town, Colton on the Run, Special on Nov. 4

Events that occurred in the past week in Belmont.

For the first time anyone can remember, the highest-level sex offender is living in Belmont, creating a great deal of anxiety and concern among residents and parents. The Belmont Police along with the school department will be holding a public meeting on the matter on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Roger Colton, of the Energy Committee and solar power advocate, has formed a committee For possible run for Selectman in the April Town Election. He is running for Ralph Jones' seat on the Board.

The Special Town Meeting has been set for Monday, Nov. 4. There are three articles on the agenda: Demolition Delay, Sidewalk Snow Removal and putting a new "rug" on Harris Field.

Initial requests for funds from the town's Community Preservation Act coffers top $3.7 million including $2 million for the Underwood Pool reconstruction. 

The latest version of saving the historic Clark House includes moving to a site on the land of Public Library and using the building as headquarters for the Belmont  Historical Society. Stay tuned. 

Belmont names Winthrop's head of town buildings its new combined Facilities Manager after approving the concept three years ago .
