Butler Playground 'Raising' Set for Oct. 20

Adult volunteers - 20 to 25 needed - will work a day putting up the new play equipment.

The Butler School Playground project is looking for a few good men and women to spend a day building a playground.

The long-awaited "community build" to set up the new playground equipment on the site of the playground condemned by the School Department a year ago last month, will take place next Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Butler Playground Committee, which spearheaded the operation by raising nearly $185,000 through contributions and re-appropriating town funds at the annual Town Meeting in May – is looking for 20 to 25 volunteers to join them at the Butler playground to help assemble the playground equipment.

The group will be lead by John Hollerbach, a certified playground-equipment installer, and his crew.

Since the operation requires working with heavy equipment and tools, this community build is for adults only, as the volunteers will be building in a  construction site.
