Meet Officer Grim, Go on a Sustainable Garden Tour, Pet an Instrument
There's lots going on this weekend in Belmont.

Grim Meeting
His name is "Grim" and he's the new cop on the beat. The K9 beat, that is. Belmont Police Department will be introducing their K9 officer at the Belmont High School auditorium beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. Learn how he will serve the town and see live demonstrations with Grim and his handler, BPD Officer Cory Taylor.

This Sunday, Sept. 8, explore the Green Gardens of Belmont. Sponsored by SustainableBelmont, the Green Garden Tour is a self-guided exploration, so you can go on bike, foot or car and if little ones get tired you can hop home, rest and then go back out again! You'll be amazed by all the interesting gardeners living right here in Belmont.
Pick up a map at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech Street, on Sunday. The gardens will be open at 11 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Rain or shine. This is a free event and open to all.
Learn about composting, rain barrels, pest control and other organic practices. Check out vegetable, herb, fruit and flower gardens that use organic and sustainable growing principles. You might even get to sample some of the locals' bounty!
You can also enter to win a free Great American Rain Barrel when you pick up your map at the Beech Street Center. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. at the same location.

Come to the Powers Music School, Saturday, Sept. 7, 1:00-5:00 pm, 380 Concord Ave. for their annual fall Open House: visit the campus, meet the faculty, try an instrument, see an early-childhood class demo, learn more about lessons, orchestra, and ensembles, and register for the Fall semester.
