Traveling through Cushing Square this week? Expect delays due to construction at all hours. The Belmont Water Department reports that the major water main construction project running the entire length of the town will continue this week at the intersection of Church Street and Trapelo Road as well as at the intersection of Trapelo Road and Common Street in the heart of Cushing Square. But now drivers can not long expect to dodge the reconstruction of the aging system by waiting it out at work or doing chores after 5 p.m. This week begins construction under the lights: Night work will take place in Cushing Square beginning Tuesday Oct. 5, and lasting the week. Traffic delays are expected during construction so commuters and residents should consider finding alternate routes through the heaviest of construction areas in Cushing Square and at the intersection of Church Street. If you have any questions or comments, the Water Division office number during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is 617-993-2700.
