Police Log: Hand Grenade Found By Firefighters
Police activity from the week ending July 26.

Threatening letters
July 20 – At 11:09 a.m., officers were sent to the lobby of a Pine Street multifamily residence to speak to a man who said he was being threatened by a man who was attempting to extort $2,500 from him. In a letter, the man threatened that "things will happen to you if he didn't pay up. The victim only wants the letters to stop coming.

July 20 – At 4:59 p.m., a client staying at a medical facility on Mill Street reported that she was the victim of a robbery: someone had taken a pair of one carat diamond earrings valued at $10,000.

July 20 – At 9:13 p.m., police were sent to a Jeanette Avenue address for a tenant who the landlord said was doing damage to the apartment. The tenant said that he had placed a video camera on the front porch that the landlord took down. The police issued hearing date to the landlord, a female from Burlington, for larceny of under $250, the camera.
Apple disappears
July 20 – A Moraine Street resident called police to report that since returning back to apartment, his Apple laptop and a camera were missing. He told officers that he was sure he locked his front door. The total value missing is $1,500.

July 24 – At 5 p.m., an Irving Street resident said someone was attempting to open a credit card in California under her name. In addition, she had just received a bill from a Las Vegas hotel that had never visited.
Warrant arrest, part 1
July 24 – At 6:19 p.m., police officers ran the license of a car traveling down Trapelo Road. Information came back that the driver had an outstanding warrant. The car was stopped and the driver, Tyler White, 23, of 5 Rose Lane in Gloucester was arrested for an outstanding warrant for possession of a class D substance and number plate violation.
Warrant arrest, part 2
July 26 – At 11:18 a.m., officers were sent to a Jeanette Avenue address for an ongoing dispute and discovered that one of the residents had an outstanding warrant. William Sacca, 59, of 42 Jeanette Ave. was arrested for a warrant on threats to commit a crime, assault and battery and intimidation of a witness.
Home hand grenade
July 26  – Police were sent to a Partridge Lane residence at 3:42 p.m. Firefighters were operating at the scene found a hand grenade. The State Police bomb squad arrived and took the grenade away. It was determined to be a training device.
Unattended children
July 26 — At  5:27 p.m., police were sent to the public library on Concord Avenue for suspicious activity. Officers found two small children left in a car. Officers found the parent and advised not to leave the children unattended,
