The incidents of fraud over the phone continues at a steady pace, according to Belmont Police Lt. Richard Santangelo. In the latest attempt to swindle money from residents occurred on July 22 when an Audrey Road resident received a call from a person who identified himself as representing a well-known medical company that provides additional care to senior citizens on Medicare. The call was professional and dealt with medical histories and in providing additional care. At the end of the conversation, the man at the other end of the line requested the Audrey Road resident's bank checking account number for identification purposes. The Belmont resident hung up the phone.Â
