Police Log: Running With Nothing To Show For It
Incidents involving the Belmont Police Department.
Late at night, a few minutes before midnight on Sept. 15, a Cowdin Street resident heard his car alarm go off and decided to call the Belmont Police Department. At the same time, a caller reported that he saw a man wearing jeans and a dark hoodie "running fast down Cowdin. Police arrived and began a search but could not find him. However, officers discovered a chair leaning on a fence that police believed someone could use to scale across into other yards. Waltham brought its K9 unit to search the neighborhood. The police believed they found the suspect in a vehicle leaving the area. But after questioning the occupants, the people were released. Police were told the doors of the car were left unlocked. The alarm did do its job: it was discovered that nothing was stolen.
