Square Surrenders to Spooky Sprites

Cushing Square Business Association sponsors an early Halloween for kids, parents and Smurfs.

On Friday afternoon, Cushing Square became haunted with cats, witches, Who One and Too, superheroes and a tre chic musketeer as Halloween came early thanks to the members of the Cushing Sqaure Business Association.

The cool temperatures and a bright autumn sun brought out a crowd of costumed children and their parents – some who also took time to outfit themselves – to fill bags with goodies provided by more than a dozen businesses along Common and Trapelo. There was even a family of Smurfs – Papa, Smurfette and the kids – who took the time from 'le Pays maudit' to visit Belmont.

Some of the participants were not old enough to walk the entire way leading to the rare occurrence of "carriage-jams" along the sidewalks. Yet for the most part, children, parents and merchants happily interacted making for a merry time for all.
