The Week in Review in Belmont: Town Meeting to Include Yard Sale Bylaw, Joey's Park Gets Underway

What happened this past week in Belmont.

The Warrant for the Special Town Meeting on Nov. 4 has been set and along with articles on a Demolition Delay measure, the reconstruction of the turf surface on Harris Field and a new snow removal article, the representatives will vote on a measure that would set limits on the number and other aspects of yard sales in Belmont.

The reconstruction of Joey's Park got officially underway on Friday with hundreds of volunteers and lots of noise.

The final vote on filling the vacancy on the Belmont School Committee was delayed a few day. Earlier the Belmont School Committee and Board of Selectmen twice tied in voting for two candidates: Former School Committee member Elizabeth Gibson and Lesley University's Dean of Faculty Lisa Fiore.

Belmont's Inaugural 'Artitude' festival was a big hit for Cushing Square and local artists.

A blocked sewer line caused major headaches driving through Belmont Center.

The Belmont schools and the district as a whole achieved the state's top learning ranking for student progress in learning.
