4 Beverly Stop Signs Removed To Help Traffic Flow: Police

The Beverly Police Department said the signs were permanently removed to go with the installation of new traffic lights in the areas.

BEVERLY, MA — Those who travel through Beverly are advised that four stop signs have been permanently removed to help traffic flow after the recent installation of traffic lights.

Beverly police said the first location is at the Kernwood Avenue and Harris Street intersection. Both stop signs on Kernwood Avenue were permanently removed. Both stop signs on each end of Harris Street remain.

This change was necessary to help keep traffic flowing with the new traffic lights at Bridge/Kernwood Avenue, which are now active.

The second location changed was another four-way stop located at River/Federal and McPherson Drive Margine Street. Two of the four stop signs were permanently removed. The stop sign at River Street and Federal Streets closest to Salem Plumbing was removed.

The next stop sign removed was at McPherson Drive and Federal Street. The other two stop signs on Federal Street and Margin Street will remain.

This change was necessary to keep traffic flowing with the new lights that were installed at River and Bridge Streets. These lights will soon go active.

"We are hoping to add some more signage to the existing stop signs similar to this one in the photo below in the very near future," police said. "Please drive carefully and be safe out there."
