Tuesday, 4:15 p.m., inside Cove Elementary:
Despite concerns about how early voting might affect the annual Cove PTO bake sale, PTO volunteer Carolyn Palmer said pastries have been flying off the table.
Instead of the predicted tension between political parties, voters inside Cove Elementary commented on how good the entrance of Cove smelled, she said. And instead of arguing about politics, people were more enthusiastic about the meatball subs the PTO was also selling.
"We were super busy," said Palmer. "We've had an absolutely wonderful turnout." Money from the bake sale goes to the general PTO fund, she said.
For the first time this year, the PTO had a table just for allergen-free goods. Volunteer Samantha Harris set up that table, and said people had been excited about it.
Poll Warden Tony Paluzzi reported no issues at the polls late Tuesday afternoon.
"It's been busy all day, but the big lines were this morning" Paluzzi said.
Tuesday, 3:30 p.m., outside Cove Elementary:
Rick Lundrigan was holding a Daniel Fishman for State Representative sign outside Cove as the sun set on Tuesday afternoon. He said he had been there since 7 a.m., and planned to stick around until 7 p.m.
"He sounds like he may make a difference," Lundrigan said. "I've gotten a lot of waves, a couple honks."
Lundrigan joined Gov. Charlie Baker in leaving the presidential bubble blank. "I think whoever wins we're screwed," he said.
Cameron Doherty took the day off to stand in front of the Cove sign with other Jerry Parisella supporters. Parisella is running for re-election against Fishman.
Doherty said all questions on the ballot were important to him, and said he was excited to have voted for Hillary Clinton.
"Hillary Clinton is supremely qualified to be president and I'm glad to have her serve," he said. "She's just a good candidate for president."
