Beverly Fire Destroys 4 Apartments, Leaves More Than A Dozen Displaced
UPDATED: A car fire spread to the two adjacent three-story buildings on Bennett Street on Monday.

BEVERLY, MA — A vehicle fire that spread to two adjacent three-story apartment buildings on Bennett Street destroyed four units and left more than a dozen residents displaced Monday afternoon.
The Beverly Fire Department said no one was injured in the fire and that many of the items in the apartments can be salvaged.

Beverly fire responded to a report of a car fire at about 3:15 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the car in a narrow driveway between the two buildings at 23-25 Bennett with the fire extending to the side of the buildings.
There was fire in the first-floor bedroom of 25 Bennett and heard in the walls and ceilings of the third-floor apartment at 25 Bennett.

A second and third alarm were struck with firefighters from Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Hamilton, Peabody, and Manchester by the Sea all responding
Beverly fire said the fire at 23 Bennett was contained largely to the side of the building but that the first-floor apartment was left uninhabitable. Three apartments at 25 Bennett were uninhabitable.
Families were working with the Red Cross and family members for shelter.
The cause of the fire will remain under investigation by the Beverly Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
