Beverly Driver Allegedly Hits Two Children, One Adult in Salem Crash: Reports
The hit-and-run reportedly caused serious injuries, but officials say they are not life threatening.

SALEM, MA — Police arrested a Beverly man after a hit-and-run caused injuries for two children and one adult.
Salem Police say the pedestrians were seriously injured after the accident on Bridge Street in Salem Sunday night, according to multiple reports
Reports indicate that the crash occurred when the three were struck while crossing the Bridge Street and Washington Street intersection. Police arrested Dexter Mitchell, 52, of Somerset Avenue in Beverly on charges of operating under the influence, failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

The report further indicates that two of the suffered very serious injuries, though none of them were life-threatening. The third victim was taken to Massachusetts General hospital, and would have been taken there by MedFlight if it were not for poor weather conditions, according to the Salem News.
WBZ-TV reports that the three are expected to be okay, but suffered serious injuries.

The accident occurred just after 8 p.m. Mitchell did not have any prior OUI arrests.
