STATE:
- State Senate: Democrat Joan Lovely, president of the Salem City Council and local attorney, will face Beverly resident and EMT, Richard Jolitz, for the 2nd Essex District seat in the state Senate. The winner will replace Democrat Fred Berry, who retired this year after 30 years on Beacon Hill.
NATIONAL:

- US Congress: Incumbent U.S. Congressman John Tierney will face Richard Tisei, a Republican former state Senator from Wakefield and local business owner.
- US Senate: U.S. Senator Scott Brown is being challenged by Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren.
- US President: Incumbent President Barack Obama will face Republican Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts. Also in the running is Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
