BEVERLY, MA — Downtown Beverly visitors will get a parking break through the holiday this year after free parking at municipal lots and meters was extended through Christmas Day.

The free downtown parking, which was set to begin in conjunction with the Beverly downtown holiday strolls this weekend, will now start on Thursday and extend through Christmas Eve — with parking on Christmas Day also free because it is a holiday.

Free parking does not apply to the city's waterfront area or the MBTA garage.
