Beverly Fire Crews Battle Indian Hill Porch Blaze Extending To House

Crews fought the fire for about two hours before determining it to be contained at about 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly fire crews spent a chilly Monday afternoon battling a porch fire on Indian Hill that extended into the house and required "significant overhaul to dig out and extinguish the hidden fire and hot spots."

The Beverly Fire Department said three engines, a ladder and a car responded to the fire at about 2:30 p.m. and found smoke and fire showing from the porch and front of the house.

"The fire had already breached a window and had made its way into the residence," Beverly fire said. "Engine 3's crew made an aggressive attack and quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire."

Fire crews worked to extinguish the hidden hot spots and checked for further extension into the residence before deeming the fire under control at about 4:15.

Crews from Salem. Hamilton and Manchester provided coverage and responded to several other emergencies throughout the city as Beverly crews battled the blaze.
