Beverly Vietnam Veterans/VFW Award Scholarships To 3 Student Veterans

Beverly Vietnam Veterans and VFW Post 545 awarded scholarships to three North Shore Community College student veterans.

BEVERLY, MA – Beverly Vietnam Veterans and the Beverly VFW Post 545 made college a little more affordable for three student veterans at North Shore Community College.

Anthony Montenero, a Marine Corps Veteran from Everett, received the Beverly Vietnam Veterans scholarship and Tanya Lopes from Peabody, also a Marine Corps Veteran, received the Beverly VFW Post 545 Scholarship. Both scholarships were for $2,000 each. Airforce Veteran Kathleen LaBomBard fromMelrose, was awarded a $500 bookstore gift card from an anonymous donor affiliated with the Beverly Vietnam Veterans and Beverly VFW Post 545.

This is the third year that NSCC student veterans have benefitted from scholarships from the Beverly Vietnam Veterans. Scholarship recipients can use the funds in whatever way they see fit, such as living expenses, transportation or tuition/fees.

"The VFW and Beverly Vietnam Veterans are an integral part of our Veterans Center here at NSCC," said Kristine Babcock, NSCC Veteran’s Services Specialist. "They provide peer leadership to our younger veterans and offer camaraderie among veterans."
