Beverly Woman Wins Ginny Currier Community Spirit Award

A local woman is being honored for her work with students, the gardening club, and

BEVERLY, MA – This year's Ginny Currier Community Spirit Award will be presented to Beverly resident Sandra Lawson during Homecoming on Friday, Aug. 4, at the Mayor's Reception, an annual fundraising event for the Carriage House at Lynch Park.

This award is given each year to recognize and honor a volunteer whose dedication and commitment toward the betterment of Beverly makes an impact on our community and often goes unheralded. Lawson devotes her time to many local organizations such as the Friendly Garden Club, Friends of the Library, Beverly Bootstraps, and more. She tutors students in the GED program at North Shore Community College, volunteers with Care Dimensions hospice, and as a master gardener she produces "Get Your Garden Growing," a cable access TV program. Lawson's volunteerism reflects a true community spirit.

The award was formed in 2016 after the unexpected death of Ginny Currier (pictured), an under-the-radar volunteer with many Beverly organizations. Last year's award went to the Beverly Improvement Society, which works to keep Garden City true to its name.
