Beverly YMCA Seeks Volunteers For Project Y Day

Volunteers are sought for Project Y as well as nominations for the city of Beverly and the Greater Beverly YMCA Youth Exemplary Award.

BEVERLY, MA — More than 200 teens, nearly two dozen adults and 11 community partners will join the Beverly YMCA for an annual day of service giving back to the community later this month.

Additional volunteers are sought for the Project Y effort as well as nominations for the city of Beverly and the Greater Beverly YMCA Youth Exemplary Award.

The Project Y 1 day/400 hands effort will begin on April 26 with a virtual kick-off video message from Beverly Y Executive Director Tim Flaherty and YMCA of the North Shore President & CEO Chris Lovasco.

Volunteers will assist:

● Removal of approximately 7,500 pounds of trash and debris from varying project sites
● Collected 1,125 pounds of food from Shaw's, Stop & Shop and Henry's for Beverly Bootstraps
● Assisted in the cleaning of Veteran's Services — Toys for Tots Storage
● Pruning, picking up trash and adding dirt to the garden beds.
● Cleaned and painted new Riley Rocks at Lynch Park
● Clean up at City of Beverly Public Parks

"What an incredible effort by our teens, mentors, board and community," Project Y Chair Anabel Curiel-Franciskato said. "We are proud to partner with so many wonderful organizations to make a positive impact and help strengthen our community."

Volunteers will set out across Beverly and surrounding communities in support of the following organizations:

● Riley ROCKS Foundation
● Salem Sound CoastWatch
● City of Beverly Parks and Cemeteries
● Bootstraps - Food drive
● Build a bed or a Bed for Every Child
● Friends of the Beverly Library
