Beverly's George Jacobson Inducted Into Salem State Hall Of Fame
Jacobson coached the SSU golf team to the 1972 NCAA Championships and a berth in the St. Andrews Invitational in Scotland.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly's George Jacobson was inducted into the Salem State University Athletic Hall of Fame for his contributions as a coach on the links with the 1972 golf team.
The team was also inducted as a whole based on its tremendous season in which the Vikings qualified for the NCAA Championships, earned a place in the St. Andrew's Invitational in Scotland and finished 10-0 in winning the MASCAC championship.
Jacobson coached the Vikings to their first conference championship at the event held at Essex Country Club as they claimed the District 32 championship. SSU won the New England State College Athletic championship in Orleans, Vermont and advanced to the NCAA Championships where they finished 16th out of 33 teams in the combined Division II and Division III event.
