Boys with 'Rifles' Reported to Police

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:

Monday, Feb. 25

  • A Sohier Road resident was reported banging on neighbors doors at 1:37 a.m. Police asked him to quiet down.
  • At 10:48 a.m. police arrested Zachary Morrell, 25, of 32 Bow St., on warrant charges. 
  • A vehicle was reported broken into on Federal Street at 10:49 a.m.
  • Police were called to Haskell Street at 1:11 p.m. on report of a man going door-to-door. Police spoke to the man in question, who was promoting his new house cleaning business, without problem.
  • A stolen vehicle was reported on Trask Court at 3:07 p.m.
  • At 8:42 p.m. police arrested Arnold Taci, 19, of 14 Bartlett St., on charges of assault and battery. 

Tuesday, Feb. 26

  • Police were called to a vacant home on Bartlett Street on report of a suspicious car parked in the driveway at 12:12 a.m. Police said there was no basis for the call--the vehicle's owner was at a neighboring house.
  • A past assault was reported on Home Street at 10:38 a.m. Police arrested David Trethaway, 47, of 89 West St., on charges of assault and battery. 
  • A laptop was reported stolen on Gage Street at 2:53 p.m.
  • At 4:11 p.m. police were called to the Cummings Center on report of a bus driver with the smell of alcohol on his breath. 
  • Police were called to the area of Lothrop Street and Wilson Avenue at 6:01 p.m. on report of 'two males with rifle type weapons in the bushes.' Police arrived on scene and determined the items were nerf guns, and the two in question were just young children playing.
  • Police were called to a dispute over parking spaces on Broughton Drive at 7:38 p.m.
  • Police were called to Front Street at 7:56 p.m. on report of an ice ball being thrown at a car that was coming off of the bridge. Police searched the area but did not find anyone.
  • Police were called to Enon Street on report of a man possibly passed out in his car at 8:38 p.m. The person told police he was just taking a nap.
  • Police were called to Tozer Road at 8:46 p.m. on report of an elderly man flagging down cars. Police spoke to the man in question, who had just been released from the hospital and was trying to get to the train station. Police transported him to Beverly Depot.
  • At 11:14 p.m. police arrested Jamial Saleh, 32, of 35 Burrell Avenue in Lynn on disorderly conduct charges.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

  • Police were called to Sohier Road at 12:31 a.m. on report of a person believing someone had stolen his 'dispositions,' which police said were 'incomprehensible scribblings on cardboard' and random drawings. The person was able to relocate the items.
  • At 9:12 a.m. a disturbance was reported in the solicitors office at Beverly City Hall. Police said the person in question left without incident.
  • Facebook threats were repoted on Sohier Road at 2:05 p.m.
  • Police were called to Sohier Road at 3:06 p.m. on report of minors in possession of alcohol.
  • A vehicle break-in was reported on Neptune Street at 3:26 p.m.
