Break In Reported at Storage Building, Syringes Found on Moped

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:

Wednesday, Feb. 13

  • A gas run-off was reported at a Cabot Street station at 11:04 a.m.
  • At 12:26 p.m. police were called to a road rage situation on Elliott Street. Police searched the area but the car was not found.
  • At 1:11 p.m. police were called to a Rantoul Street business on report of a man bothering the cleaning crew. 
  • Police were called to Edwards Street at 1:39 p.m. on report of a man yelling at his landlord. Police offered legal advice to the landlord.
  • A loose dog was reported running in and out of traffic on McKay Street at 2:58 p.m. The dog was picked up by the city.
  • An intoxicated person was reported in a Cabot Street business at 7:49 p.m. The person was sent on his way.
  • At 11:04 p.m. police arrested Benjamin Jones, 34, of 48 Pleasant St., on charges of disorderly conduct.
  • Police were called to Cabot Street on report of 'syringes planted on a moped' at 11:40 p.m.
  • Police were called to Chase Street at 11:42 p.m. on report of a man causing a disturbance. Police arrested Jonathan Bellamy, 19, listed as homeless, on charges of resisting arrest and two counts of assault and battery.

Thursday, Feb. 14

  • A suspicious man was reported on Odell Avenue standing on the corner at 2:28 a.m. When police arrived the man was not there.
  • An overnight break-in was reported on Pleasant Street at Beverly Self Storage at 7:38 a.m. 
  • At 9:54 a.m. police arrested Franklin Hudson, Jr., 49, of 269 Andover St. in Danvers, on two warrant charges.
  • A purse was found in a store on Enon Street at 10:12 a.m.
  • Police were called to Friend Street on report of a woman staggering in the road at 1:47 p.m. Police searched the street, and surrounding areas, but did not locate her. 
  • Police were called for a suspicious vehicle on Thoreau Circle at 2:06 p.m. Police spoke to the men in the car, who told police they were just Gordon College students driving around, wasting time.
  • At 7 p.m. police were called to Grant Street on report of a fight going on in the upstairs apartment. When police arrived, the men in question told police they were just playing video games.
  • Police were called to Cobblers Lane at 7:05 p.m. on report of a woman thinking someone was in her house. Police said there was no basis for the concern.
  • At 7:31 p.m. police were called to the Stop & Shop parking lot on report of a 'man screaming at a woman in a white van.' When police arrived they spoke to the two, who told police they were just friends and were having an argument.

Friday, Feb. 15

  • An erratic driver was reported on Rantoul Street at 1:20 a.m.
  • At 1:50 a.m. police were called to Whitney Avenue on report of loud neighbors. Police were called back to the house at 7:24 a.m. and the woman in question admitted she was being loud in retaliation for the previous call.
