Coastal Flood Warning Starts at 8 p.m. Friday

Potential severe erosion, large waves, combined with a 2 to 3 foot surge may make roads impassable.

The National Weather Service has bumped the coastal flood watch to a coastal flood warning, beginning tonight at 8 p.m.

"A powerful coastal storm will produce moderate coastal flooding this evening and moderate to major coastal flooding Saturday morning, along with potentially severe erosion," the service said. "Large waves combined with a 2-to-3 foot surge may cause a number of vulnerable shore roads to become impassable for a while...and may cause damage to homes along the immediate shoreline during the Saturday morning high tide."

The coastal flood warning is in effect through Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
