Company May Not Demolish Historic Depot Area Buildings

Windover Development learned recently that the entire area may lose its historic distinction if the buildings are torn down.

Building company Windover Development may be rethinking the demolition of two historic buildings in the Beverly Depot area, according to an article in the Salem News. 

Apparently the company learned that if they tore down the Cushing Carriage Building and the former Hotel Tafton, the area may not longer continue to be in the National Register of Historic Places. 

This decision would have a collateral affect on Windover because of one of the company's projects in the historic area that would be eligible for $1.1 million in tax credits so long as the area stays on the historic register.
