Trapped Driver Freed From Wenham Route 128 Rollover Crash Near Beverly Line
The driver was taken to Beverly Hospital with no further information on the person's condition as of Wednesday night.

WENHAM, MA — Beverly and Wenham firefighters helped extricate a trapped driver from a rollover crash on Route 128 North that caused the highway to be closed during the Wednesday afternoon commute.
The Wenham Fire Department said the driver was taken to Beverly Hospital and that the person's condition was unknown as of Wednesday night.
Wenham police and fire responded to the rollover crash on Route 128 North near the Beverly line at about 2:45 p.m on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Jeffrey Baxter and Wenham police were the first to arrive and found the occupant of the vehicle trapped. Deputy Baxter called for Beverly fire to respond with hydraulic extrication tools to help the driver and crews were able to free the occupant.
The driver was then taken by Beauport Ambulance Paramedics to Beverly Hospital.

Massachusetts State Police were investigating the crash. Also responding were Manchester-by-the-Sea Police and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
"I want to thank all of our mutual aid partners, including Wenham Police, Beverly Fire, Manchester-by-the-Sea Police, Massachusetts State Police and the Department of Transportation for their prompt and professional responses to this incident," said Wenham Fire Chief Stephen Kavanagh. "Our mutual aid support is always critical, especially when serious incidents like this occur."
Northbound traffic on Route 128 in Wenham was diverted off the highway during the Wednesday afternoon commute following the crash, according to the state Department of Transportation.
MassDOT said at about 4 p.m. that the northbound lanes of the highway were closed at Exit 48 (Grapevine Road) and drivers were being detoured off the highway there.
All drivers were advised to seek an alternate route and avoid the area, if possible.
