Empty Kayak Prompts Facebook Quest for Owner

Beverly police reached out to the public via Facebook in search of the owner of an empty kayak found on Thursday evening.

An empty kayak found along the Danvers River on Thursday night had police reaching out to the public to see if they knew who owned it.

The kayak was found in the area of the Beverly-Salem Bridge at about 6 p.m., according to police. Beverly Police posted to its Facebook page, asking anyone if they had recently lost their kayak or had it stolen. Beverly police worked with the Harbormaster and Coast Guard to determine if they needed to undertake an “expanded search and rescue operation.”

By 8:15 p.m., Beverly police said that the owner of the kayak had been found.

“All persons involved are safe,” police said.
