Flip The Bird To Host 'Dine Out For Dari' Night To Support Beverly Teen Gunshot Victim

A percentage from all food sales, online, in-house or Door Dash delivery, will go toward Beverly 15-year-old Darianna Ruiz's recovery fund.

BEVERLY, MA — The Beverly location of Flip The Bird is hosting a "Dine Out For Dari" night to help support 15-year-old Darianna Ruiz as she recovers from a gunshot wound to the head suffered during a domestic incident in October.

Flip The Bird will donate 5 percent of all sales — in-person, on-line or through Door Dash delivery —to the family of the teen victim who underwent more than a half-dozen surgeries and suffered a stroke in the wake of being shot in her own home.

The donation event will take place on Dec. 9 from 3 to 8 p.m.

Cruz, 15, was flown to an ICU after suffering a gunshot wound to the head in the early evening of Oct. 14 at the Simon Street home.

A 14-year-old boy was arraigned on multiple charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, in Salem Juvenile Court that week. He has not been identified because of his age.

The family of Cruz launched a GoFundMe to help the family as she recovers from the stroke, seven surgeries and other complications from her injuries.

A family member posted on the GoFundMe page that Cruz had stabilized and was showing signs of improvement as of Nov. 12.

As of Monday, the GoFundMe page had raised $15,444 of its $20,000 goal.
