Gloucester Man Crashes Into School Bus

The driver is suspected of driving under the influence of marijuana.

GLOUCESTER, MA – Police arrested a man after he drove into a school bus with children on board on Wednesday morning. Caleb M. Andersen, 20, of Gloucester, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

Officers responded to Essex Avenue and Welch Lane at 7:20 a.m. on a report of a crash involving a car and a school bus.

Police may also charge Andersen with driving under the influence of marijuana, pending investigation. Andersen was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and no other injuries were reported.

The charge was announced a couple hours after Interim Police Chief John McCarthy released a reminder on what the new Massachusetts marijuana laws mean – including the law against driving while high.
