'It Has Been A Family': North Shore Food Store To Shutter After 9 Decades

BEVERLY, MA — A venerable Beverly store that served the North Shore for nine decades — the last 40 years under current ownership — will soon close its doors.

Owners of the Gloria Food Store said on social media that the store would be closing and thanked employees and customers for making the store "more than a just a business — it has been a family."

"This decision was not made lightly, and while we haven't yet finalized the details, we want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to every single customer, employee, and partner who has supported us along the way," ownership posted on Facebook. "We are immensely proud of the relationships we have built and the trust you have placed in us. Whether you have been with us from the very beginning or joined us more recently, your support means the world to us."

The Gloria Food Store has been on the corner of Rantoul and Federal streets since 1936. The Ofiesh family bought the store in 1983.

Ownership said that the closing details have not yet been finalized, and updates will be provided on the final day of operation.

"Until then, we remain committed to serving you with the same care and dedication that we’ve always strived to provide," the post said. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of this journey. We will cherish the memories and the community we have built forever."
