Lobsterman Catches Great White Shark In Rockport

Local blog Good Morning Gloucester reports that a tagged great white shark was caught off the coast of a Rockport island.

ROCKPORT, MA – Rockport's popularity in the summer extends to sharks, it seems. Good Morning Gloucester – a local news blog – reported that lobsterman Gil Mitchell recently caught a tagged great white shark off the coast of Thatcher Island.

The 8-foot-7-inch shark, Cisco, was tagged in October 2016 on Nantucket, according to OCEARCH. He's traveled 2,731-plus miles since his tagging, and was named for Cisco Brewery and Nantucket's Cisco Beach.

A video tweeted by Cisco's official Twitter account noted he seems to be following the one-year migration loop of an immature male.
